Since 2011, Sustainable Maryland has empowered the state’s 157 municipalities (of the more than 75 that are registered, 39 have become certified) in efforts to develop sustainability programs that will bill a better tomorrow, one community at a time. Participating municipalities have completed over 1,000 unique actions and are developing comprehensive sustainability programs in communities throughout the state.

In addition to our certification program, Sustainable Maryland is working with our sponsors to award over technical and financial support to Maryland municipalities for sustainability projects that make communities more liveable, environmentally friendly and prosperous. Sustainable Maryland completes many trainings and events each year to educate our participants and is constantly updating our program with best practices.
