Sustainable Maryland and its program partners regularly host trainings and events that support progress toward Sustainable Maryland certification. In general, events posted on the calendar are FREE or of minimal cost.

2024 Events

Urban Forestry Careers Camp

Date: July 7 - July 13, 2024

Come spend a week on Maryland's flagship campus in College Park and experience hands-on learning with industry professionals and experts in many forestry-related fields. More info can be found here.

SM Certification / Re-Certification Webinar

Date: Wednesday, April 10

Time: 1:00 - 2:00pm

Join Sustainable MD staff on Wednesday, April 10 from 1:00 - 2:00pm for an overview of the 2024 Sustainable Maryland certification cycle and a review of the new certification tier.

For those municipalities that last became certified in 2021, this year brings many new additions to our program and the certification process, including:

- A new Silver SM Certification Tier

- More than 20 new SM Actions

- New SM Action Categories

So whether your municipality will be applying for certification for the very first time, or for re-certification this year, and you are looking for inspiration for new Actions, or updating your Action Plan, please join us on April 10.

Join us for our Wednesday Webinar series on topics related to climate planning and energy happening virtually every 4th Wednesday of the month from 1-2pm EST.

Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education Annual Conference (In-Person)

EE for our Future: Educate, Engage, and Empower

This conference experience will be half-day Friday workshops, Happy Hour with food, Keynote Speaker Chris Hill, Sierra Club, Exhibitors, successive sessions on Saturday with plenty of time for networking. Registration will be limited to 250 so that workshops will not be overcrowded.
