July 18, 2016 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health in Washington DC

July 19, 2016 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health in Washington DC

This annual conference gives local elected and appointed officials a chance to learn about some of the most innovative smart growth projects in the country. This year’s theme — “Solutions for Local Success” — will focus on allowing local leaders from communities of all sizes to share their stories and find tools to solve current challenges. The Forum is a unique opportunity to explore the latest policy solutions and network with like-minded colleagues who are making smart growth happen throughout the country.

Registration for this conference is free! However, space is limited and preference will be given to Local Leaders Council members. If you are not currently a member, consider applying for membership today.

Before the Forum: A special session on rural communitiesThe conference will kick off with a welcome reception on the evening of Monday, July 18th. Tuesday, July 19, will be a day full of demonstrations, conversations, and idea-sharing about how local leaders are using smart growth strategies to make their communities more equitable, stronger economically, and more sustainable environmentally.

For the first time this year, we will be hosting a pre-Forum meeting specifically for leaders of rural communities on the afternoon of July 18. Thanks to the generous support of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this invitation-only meeting will allow leaders from rural places to compare notes about an approach to economic development that respects community character, promotes fiscal health, and leverages all available resources. Sound like a good match for your needs? Please indicate your interest on the registration form.
